Cathedral Administrator, Catholic Diocese of Jalingo, Rev. Fr. Simon Akuraga, on Sunday charged parents and guardians to inculcate good moral values and cultural practices in their children for a better society.
Akuraga was speaking at a Christmas party he organised for children at Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Cathedral Mile Six, Jalingo.
The Cathedral Administrator said the essence of the Christmas party was to impact in the children good family values and teach them to grow with the teachings of the church.
“The church promotes good family values and we organised this party to bring the children and families together and to encourage them to grow with the fear of God.
“Today the church celebrates the feast of family and we put this event together to encourage them to see the need to spend time together, so that their children can learn from them,” he said.
He enjoined the children to always honour and respect their parents and elders and prayed God to grant them bright future and they grow with the fear of God.
Mr. Jerome Akaater in a remarks thanked the cathedral administrator for organising the event, saying it avails children the opportunity to learn and play together, adding that various skills exhibited by the children could be harnessed to reduced crime in the society and called on the cathedral administrator to make the event a yearly one.
Hundreds of children from within and outside Jalingo as well as clergymen and Revered Sisters grace the occasion.
