As part of activities lined up to mark its 78th Anniversary, Ikoyi Club 1938, has visited the Children Developmental Centre (CDC) located in Surulere, Lagos of Nigeria, as a show of support for people with disability.
The Charity Visit is part of the Club’s community service had in attendance the Club’s Chairman, Major General Mufutau Balogun, RTD, the Club’s Vice Chairman, in person of Mr Sola Adeosun, the Honorary Secretary, Mr Tokunbo Ogundipe and other members of the General Committee and Anniversary Sub-Committee of the Club.
The Anniversary theme has been dubbed, “Harmony in Cultural Diversity’’, in accentuating the global membership composition of the Club which was founded on September 29, 1938.
While presenting the Club’s gift to the Service Director of the Centre, Dr (Mrs) Akindayomi, the Chairman of the Club expressed his pleasure with the Management of the CDC and urged the Service Director not to relent in the good work they have set in place.
Expressing her gratitude to the foremost Elitists Family and recreation Clubs in Nigeria, Ikoyi Club 1938, Dr (Mrs) Akindayomi, lauded the club for its continuous support to the centre over the years.
The Service Director of the CDC, said though many in the society see people with disability, especially children with disability as rejected members of the family, adding that Ikoyi Club’s support has continued to give hope to the people with disability in the center.
She promised that the centre will continue in its stride to continually improve on the quality of care for the children.
Meanwhile, the Anniversary Week according to the Anniversary Committee Chairman and the Vice Chairman of the Club, Mr. Olusola Adeosun, promises to be one of excitement and fun for members and guests alike who will be attending another once-in-a-life-time event.
Part of the activities lined up for the Anniversary Week amongst other things include the Intra-Sectional Games by members, Arts Exhibition and Piano Recitals, Charity Visit to the Children Developmental Centre at Surulere, Lagos State, Grand Finale/International Cultural Day on October 2, 2016 which will feature Fashion Exhibition, Cultural Displays among others.
Adeosun, during a chat with NEWSVERGE on Wednesday, said that the event was billed to record a lot of unforgettable memories going by all the different activities that had been lined up to mark the anniversary.
Ikoyi Club 1938 is a Family Club with different sporting and recreational facilities for its over 20,000 members spread across the globe.
