Senator Emmanuel Bwacha, representing Taraba South senatorial district in the National Assembly has said Nigerians will soon know who is lying about the influx of strange people into Taraba.
Bwacha in a telephone interview with our correspondent while reacting to the point of order raised by Senator Yusuf A. Yusuf representing Taraba Central, arguing that he (Bwacha) lied when he raised a point of order urging security agencies to investigate the influx of strange people to Taraba.
He maintained that on daily basis there were influx of strange people from elsewhere to Taraba who are now settling in Bali, Gassol, Wukari and Ibi local government areas cutting across central and southern parts of the state.
“I addressed a press conference in Abuja yesterday and I showed them pictures of those killed by the invaders, trucks conveying the strange faces and the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) who are forced to leave their houses by the invaders. Very soon Nigerians will know who is lying. I raised a point of order as a senator of the federal republic. Injustice anywhere is injustice everywhere.
“The statement by senator Yusuf on the floor of the senate is a suspicion that he is behind the massive transportation and sponsorship of these people to Taraba. After all, there are reports that Boko Haram sponsorship was started by politicians,” he said.
When contacted, Taraba State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Shaba Alkali denied the claim by Senator Yusuf that he (Commissioner) confirm to him there were no influx of people to Taraba and warned politician not to drag him into politics.
“I am a professional police officer and I did my work professionally. I have not met with Senator Yusuf before. Ordinarily I would not have answered him, but I did when he called. He enquired from me whether there were influx of Boko Haram members in Taraba and I told him there were influx of strange people, but not Boko Haram.
“As I talked to you three buses loaded with people have been arrested around road block area of Jalingo and ordered they should be brought to the headquarters for screening. We have been doing that,” he said.
The commissioner further confirmed that following heavy bombardment from Adamawa and Borno people have been coming into Taraba and the herdsmen too have been migrating enmass into the state because of the season, maintaining that the police command in the state was on top of the situation.
Yusuf had on Thursday during plenary denied report of the influx of people to Taraba, saying the Commissioner of Police and State Director of the Department of State Service (DSS) confirmed to him that there were no influx of people in the state.
