Current season is NPFL’s toughest ever, says Enugu FA chairman

Sunshine Stars Football Club of Akure in Wednesday defeated Katsina United 2-0 in the week 16 encounter of the Nigeria Professional League (NPFL).

The visitors had forced the host to a goalless first half ,before the first goal came from a bicycle kick by Thomas Adesina in the 65th minute after Alaba Adeniyi’s cross into the box.

Sunshine Stars added the second goal in the 88th minute by Damilare Sunday’s tap in from a low cross into the box by Sikiru Alimi

Baldwin Bazuaye, Katsina United Coach said the two teams played very well and his teams conceded due to some mistakes.

He added that they played well in the second half,but lost due to luck and little lack of concentration.

Gbenga Elegbeleye,Chairman, Committee to reposition Ondo State Football Agency(ODSFA) said the win was a good start for the team.

Elegbeleye said he noted that the team has some better players but would still need better additions to improve the team.

“I will just say the performance is above average, Sunshine Stars can do better,I am sure with the one month I have to work with the team they will move up the table,” he said.

Elegbeleye said the governor, OluwaRotimi Akeredolu wanted the team to play a better football and play on the continent.

Ojo Olorunleke,Sunshine Stars goalkeeper said they promised to win the game after losing the last away game.

Olorunleke said the team was going to improve on the performance.
