Security: Dambazau wants more synergy among military, other security agencies‎

‎Minister of Interior, retired Lt.-Gen. Abdulrahman Dambazau has called for improved intelligence sharing and synergy among the military and other security agencies in order to tackle crime and criminality in the country.

The minister made the call during an interactive session with participants of the Nigerian Army War College Course on the need for improved synergy among security agencies.

The minister made the call in a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary,‎ Ehisienmen Osaigbovo on Tuesday in Abuja.

Dambazau harped on the need for inter-agency cooperation among security agencies in line with international best practices.

He specifically stressed on‎ the need for the military to work closely with other security agencies in order to ensure the realisation of the Federal Government’s three point agenda centered on security and economic growth.‎ ‎

The minister said that with the global affiliation of criminal organisations such as terrorist groups, ‎security agencies should depart from the tradition of the past and embrace new ideas.

“‎The ideals of effective and efficient security service delivery should be centred on inter-agency collaborations through joint training, joint operations and intelligence sharing,” he said.

The minister ‎also reminded the course participants of the fact that criminal organisations do not operate in isolation, hence the need for the military and other security services to work closely to promote effective intelligence sharing.
