Group lauds Ishaku's developmental stride in Taraba, wants more intervention in education

Taraba state government has proposed the sum of N110 Billion as appropriation for 2017 fiscal year.

Governor Ishaku who presented the appropriation bill to the state House of Assembly on Thursday promised to bring about uncommon development in the coming year.

Ishaku said the 2017 budget proposal was carefully planned to cater for the critical areas of developmental needs of the state in line with the administration rescue agenda.

The 110,106,983,942 proposal representing an increment of 9.17% over the 2016 budget.

In the proposed budget recurrent expenditure stood at N49.3  representing 44.77% of the budget estimate, while 60.8Bn representing 55.23% is to be expended on capital projects.

Housing and Urban Development took the lion share of N12.153  representing 11.03% while education got N2.659 as against and health N4.972bn.

In his speech, Ishaku said the budget, tagged budget of hope, took into consideration the significance of environmental preservation and provision of water and rural development thus the allocation of N5.06bn and N7.120bn respectively.

According to governor, job creation would remain a top priority of his adminstration in the coming year using the instruments of agricultural empowerment and provision of farm inputs and other logistics for farmers.

He explained that the last year budget fell short of expectation and could not be implemented satisfactorily due to the economic recession, but expressed hope that things would improve in the new year.

The speaker of the state assembly Rt. Hon Abel Diya said that the state assembly would give the Bill speedy consideration to ensure prompt passage for the good of the people.

Diya said the present economic realities would be taken into account while considering the Bill.
