Desmond Elliot to empower physically-challenged

All Progressives Congress (APC) member in the Lagos House of Assembly, representing Surulere constituency 1, Desmond Olusola Elliot, Saturday, in fulfilment of some of his electoral promises, unveiled skilled acquisition programme for physically challenged in his constituency, assuring them that he will ensure they live a fulfilling life by the time they are through with the programme.

While encouraging them to make use of the opportunity to turn their lives around, Elliot said: “I promised you during my campaigns that I will not be far from you and that I will start my empowerment with you. This is the beginning, it may be little but you can do a lot with it.

“We are going to make sure you become rich, at least by the end of this programme more than half of you will be empowered.”

According to the lawmaker, the decision to kick start the training was borne out of the desire to teach and empower them so that they can make a living for themselves without necessarily begging.

In his speech, the chairman of the occasion and Surulere constituency 1 Local Government party chairman, Hon. Shakirudeen Ajao, thanked Elliot for the fulfilment of some of his promises to the people of the constituency, saying if he continues the way he had started, he will have a soft landing going for second tenure.
