LCCI restates commitment to boost creative industry
Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) Tuesday reaffirmed its commitment to boost the creative industry and make it a major source of income in Nigeria.
The premier Chamber of Commerce and one of the leading voices in the organised private sector (OPS) in Nigeria in conjunction with the Committee for Relevant Art (CORA) has put together “Eko Akete: The Lagos Creative Industry Fair,” a creative industry fair aimed at showcasing the interesting talents in showbiz, fashion and lifestyle, music, poetry, artwork and film production in Nigeria.
The fair which holds at Freedom Park, Broad Street, Lagos from Friday 6th to Sunday 15th November 2015, is expected to feature amongst others, the Nigerian entertainment conference tagged “Bridging pathways to the Creative Industry of our dreams; Grill fest, cultural night, musical concert by Timaya, Vector, Brymo, Project fame All Stars e.t.c. as well as music workshop to be facilitated by PMAN, fashion shows, acting and audition workshop by DStv featuring kate Henshaw, Lancelot Imaseun, Desmond Elliot, and Gospel Concert featuring Monique, Kunke Kenny and Nikki Laoye.
Segun Alabi, Corporate Communications Manager of the Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) said; the Lagos creative industry fair (Eko Akete) is aimed at reviving the Nigerian economy by refocusing on the non-oil sector, to which the creative industry belongs. Key areas to draw attention at the fair include, but not limited to; modelling, Digital arts, social-media, anti-piracy, art promotion through technology, Dance education, drama and literature, fashion and film making and other corporate exhibitions.
He added that “the creative industry fair is also expected to identify and groom up-coming talents by facilitating socio-economic networking with already established brands in the industry. So far, so good the excitement that the fair has generated has been phenomenal and we are indeed happy about it.”
