Cleric urges Nigerians not to resign to fate

Rev. Fr. John Jerome Laikei, the priest in charge of St. Justina’s Pastoral Centre, Mayo-Dassa on Friday urged Nigerians not to lose hope or resign to fate giving the economic realities facing the nation.

Laikei, admonished Nigerians during his homily to mark the New Year celebration in Jalingo the Taraba state capital.

The priest said even though they were predictions of tough economic times ahead, those who would work hard would never regret, adding that nothing good in life comes easy and God reward hard work by prospering those who work hard.

He urged the people to rather work hard and stop procrastinating if they must achieve their dreams. “You must stop wishing for things and work hard and remain resolute and committed in achieving your goals. Mere wishes without hard work would never translate to anything good.

“Life is not without challenges. Jesus himself fall several times, but he keep on rising in order to save mankind. At some point it will look as if you are losing the battle, but with resilience and perseverance you will surly wear the crown,” he said.

Rev. Fr. John Jerome Laikei, however enjoined the people to seek the virtues of the infant Shepherd-Jesus and also serve God and men diligently to attract God’s blessings.

He reminded the people that year 2016 will be not easy, but urged them not to entertain fear but handover their worries to God and work hard.

“Take time to reflect on your activities in the past year and make amends where possible in the New Year. Consider your failures as stepping stones not as weakness and move on for a great Nigerian,” he urged.
