Ogun assures prompt payment of pensions

The Ogun State Bureau of Local Government Pensions says it is committed to sustain the economic independence of the State Local Government retirees through prompt payment of their pensions and gratuities.

The Permanent Secretary in the Bureau, Mr Ayo Kolawole stated this while defending the Bureau’s estimate budget for the 2016 fiscal year before the members of the State House of Assembly in Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta.

Kolawole proposed a total sum of N29.5m as the bureau total expenditure for the next fiscal year, out of which recurrent expenditure stood at N19.5m, while capital expenditure would gulp the sum of N10m.

He stated that the agency which had been encouraging saving culture by ensuring that the pensioners save to cater for their livelihood during old age, would ensure effective supervision and proper remittance of pension deduction under contributory pension scheme to custodians.

He also noted that the Bureau hoped to make use of the N10m capital cost for 2016 to acquire a Toyota Hiace Bus to enhance service delivery through effective monitoring and supervision of pension management in the 20 Local Government Areas of the State, adding that computer systems and furniture would also be purchased.

The Chairman of the Finance and Appropriation Committee of the State of House of Assesmbly, Hon. Akanbi Bankole commended the Bureau for a job well done, assuring them of Government support in the next fiscal year.
