Oliseh unsure of Nigeria’s CHAN chances
Nigeria head coach Sunday Oliseh has affirmed that his men are not geared up for the African Nations Championship.
The Super Eagles who begin their campaign at the championship versus Niger Republic on January 18 were forced to a 1-1 draw by Angola in an international friendly in Pretoria, and will tackle Cote d’Ivoire on Monday before heading for Rwanda.
Coach Oliseh though praised his team for a job well-done against the Palancra Negras on Wednesday; he revealed that they are not ready for the competition owing to injuries to key players.
“I am happy with the way they played [against Angola], but we’re not yet ready for CHAN,” said Oliseh.
“We played the game without strikers because our two top strikers are injured and we also have to get used to the high altitude.”
Tunde Adeniji and Chisom Chikatara are struggling for fitness as the Super Eagles hope to lift their first African Nations Championship title.
