The enlightenment programme, which took place at PPL head office in Abuja, recently, was the first in the series which is intended to cover as many establishments as possible across Nigeria.

Speaking at the seminar, the Managing Director, PPL, Mr. Wilson Ideva, emphasised the importance of the forum as an avenue for interaction between the company and officials saddled with pension issues.

According to him, “You serve as an intermediary between us and your various establishments. The level of compliance with the pension scheme would further increase if we all work together.”

In the company’s resolve to be a major contributor to the growth of the pension industry, Ideva pointed out that the company is the first and only Pension Fund Administrator (PFA) in the country to receive the Information Security Management System ISO-27001:2013 certification by British Standard Institute (BSI). “This is a clear testimony to our penchant for information security, sound service delivery, good corporate governance and global best practice,” he said.

Speaking in the same vein, the Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) of the company, Mr. Kabir Ahmed Tijjani, stated that the forum became necessary to shore up compliance level of establishments in the public and private sectors with the Contributory Pension Scheme. According to Tijjani, the forum was also meant to provide an enabling environment to engage with the relevant officials on the challenges they face in discharging their duties.

During the forum participants were enlightened on various issues including the use of Electronic Pension Contribution Collection System (EPCCOS), and its benefits. Participants were also made to understand the workings of the Additional Voluntary Contribution (AVC); its remittance and collection. Other issues discussed at the forum included the growing issue of unfunded Retirement Savings Accounts and other general challenges encountered by RSA holders.

In his remark, the representative of the Comptroller of Prisons, Mr. L.L Dapak commended the management of Premium Pension Limited for professionalism which includes the adoption of cutting edge technology in service delivery.

This position was also corroborated by the representative of the Nigerian Custom Service (NCS), Mr. H. Edema, who equally thanked the company for the forum which he described as timely. “This programme would help to improve the welfare of Retirees and RSA holders and ultimately help to sustain the steady growth of the pension industry,” he concluded.
