While addressing journalists after a closed-door meeting of organised labour leaders in Lokoja, on Thursday, the State Chairman, Comrade Onuh Edoka, exonerated labour from the decision to verify the actual number of workers before the payment of October salary.

Edoka explained that the state government had gone contrary to the earlier agreement with Governor Yahaya Bello, and noted that there was never a time the issue of verification was discussed with him.

According to him, the government met with Permanent Secretaries and issued a pro forma forms to give workers for verifications, instructing them to bring 24 months’ bank statements.

The NLC boss also stated that it had been brought to notice of his body that the state government was calling for the sack of the workers whose employment letters dated from January 2015.

He therefore urged the state government to rescind its decision with next seven days within which the NLC would direct the state civil servants to continue their strike action.
