Airports concession: Unions urge FG to consider workers' interest

Ahead of the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) audit next month in the country, Aviation agencies are working tirelessly to scale through the safety audit.

AirportIt was gathered that as part of efforts to ensure easy passage, all identified open items were being closed by various agencies especially the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria FAAN.

During the recent visit of Airport Council International team on the invitation of the management of FAAN, they identified some open items that needed to be closed before the visit of the ICAO team next month.

FAAN and Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority have been working assiduously to ensure that there were no lapses as work on perimeter fence at the Murtala Muhammed Airport Ikeja and runway markings were in progress.

Only recently, installations of airfield lightings commenced in 13 airports.

To achieve success in the audit, a committee was set up by the NCAA to get two airports in the country certified before the audit. The airports include the Murtala Muhammed Airport Ikeja and Nnamdi Azikiwe Airport, Abuja.

None of the airports in the country has been certified.
