Saraki urges Buhari to prioritise completion of abandoned projects

Senator Bukola Saraki, Nigeria’s Senate President on Monday called on President Muhammadu Buhari to prioritise projects scattered across the country.

Saraki during a joint-inspection tour of the permanent site of the National Institute of Legislative Studies (NILS), along Airport Road, Abuja, with the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Yakubu Dogara.

In the face of dwindling revenue in the country, the Senate President said that the government need to allocate funds to the most important ones.

He observed that though the challenge of inadequate funds had slowed down the completion of the project, said that the National Assembly would look for the most practicable strategy to ensure that the project was completed.

The construction work at the site of the National Institute for Legislative Studies (NILS) was suspended in 2015 due to inadequate funds.

The Senate President however said that the when the building is fully completed, “the permanent site for NILS will have staff on standby that will help strengthen the capacities of legislators.

“This will ensure that the positions and proposals by Members of the National Assembly are informed by genuine research and analytical support.”
