Hon. Olatunbosun Oyintiloye

According to a statement by the Chairman, House Committee on Information and Strategy, Olatunbosun Oyintiloye, the passage of the bill followed a motion by the Leader of the house, Honourable Timothy Owoeye for the third reading and seconded by member representing Ayedire Constituency, Hon Oyeleke Ogunsola at the plenary.

The bill, which, he said was sponsored by the Executive Arm of Government was seeking to provide for the establishment of the State of Osun Primary Health Care Development Board and for Matters connected therewith.

The Assembly had held a public hearing on the bill, last year November where professional bodies and other stakeholders lauded the bill and said, it was coming at the appropriate time.

Pronouncing the passage of the bill, the Speaker, Honourable Najeem Salaam said its passage was necessary in order for the state to benefit from Federal Health bodies and International Donors.

He said the bill would create an enabling environment for the state to develop its Primary Health care sector and enhances the health status of its citizenry.

According to the Speaker, now that the state parliament has joined others in the federation to pass the bill into law, Osun would enjoy the benefit accruable to other states in the country that had earlier pass the bill for the establishment of the board.

He then urged the executive arm of government to ensure that the benefit that the state would enjoy from the establishment of the board would be to the advantage of the teeming masses in the state.
