Taraba rerun: PDP wins all legislative seats
The People’s Democratic Party PDP in Taraba on Sunday was declared winner of all the three legislative seats in a rerun election conducted on Saturday by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
Resident Electoral Commissioner in Taraba Hon. Habu Zarma Hinna announced the result of the rerun elections at a Press briefing in Jalingo Sunday.
According to the result announced by the commission, the candidate of the PDP Hon. Dan-Asabe Hosea won the Sardauna/Kurmi/Gashaka Federal constituency with 37,645 votes as against his closest rival Ibrahim Elsudi of the All Progressives Congress APC who polled 37,609 votes.
Former Speaker of the state Assembly, Hon. Abel Peter Diah of the PDP won Mbamga State Constituency with 7,825 as against Emmanuel Bongo who polled 5,642.
In Ardo-Kola state constituency, Hon. Emmanuel Dame of the PDP garnered 12,138 to defeat Sanusi Wale of the APC who got 11,047.
The Resident Electoral Commissioner commended all stakeholders for their peaceful conduct during the elections.
Efforts to get the candidates for comments failed as there said to be with their supporters in their various constituencies.
Independent National Election Commission (INEC) had a fortnight ago fiXed February 20 as date for the conduct of supplementary elections in one federal constituency and two state constituencies in the state.
