Angry students raze down school in Osun
Aggrieved Students of Southern Nigeria Institute of Innovative Technology (SNIIT), Ifewara, Osun State, popularly known as SNIIPOLY has completely razed down the campus.
The students action, it was learnt was due to non-accreditation of some courses in the school.
It was gathered that the students gathered for the protest after detecting that programmes within school of management were not accredited.
When our correspondent visited the school, it was completely razed down and properties worth millions of naira were also damaged.
When contacted, Chairman of the Governing Councils of the school, Dr. Kola Christwealth, denied that schools programmes were not accredited by National Board for Technical Education (NBTE).
Christwealth said that the school encouraged some of the students to register for professional examination, but some of them were ignorant of the benefits.
He said, “It is not true that our courses were not accredited by NABTE. We are only encouraging our students to enroll for professional exams. We did not charge them anything for preparing them for the exams but they will only pay to register for the examinations.
“The payment is to the professional bodies like ICAN, NIM and other. They are not going to pay us but some of them said we should be the ones to pay for them whereas it is not compulsory.”
