“The Price Is Right Game Show” comes to Nigeria
Fremantle Media International (FMI) and Genesis Studios have announced a partnership to bring a local version of the classic game show format; The Price is Right, to Nigeria.
The deal will see Genesis Studios produce series of the show, taking the total number of adaptations of the format to 41 versions worldwide.
The US version of The Price is Right is the most successful game show in television history. The format features contestants as they are invited to take to the stage and use their shopping knowledge in a bid to guess the correct price of everyday products. With a charismatic host, an electric atmosphere, exciting games and life changing prizes up for grabs, The Price is Right is a game of non-stop excitement.
In his very words, an elated Olatubosun Olaegbe, the Managing Director of Genesis Studios, producers of other award winning TV programmes such as Tales of Eve, So Wrong So Wright and Chat Street, noted: “We have been looking to have a world-class game show that would engage and entertain the entire family. The Price is Right is the perfect format for us and we know it will be a big success in Nigeria.”
Anahita Kheder, Senior Vice President Middle East, Africa and South Eastern Europe at Fremantle Media also informed that “after the huge success of Idols, Got Talent and The X Factor in Nigeria, we have high hopes for The Price is Right and we are looking forward to working with Genesis Studios to bring our heritage format to life.
Adding some fuel to the sparkling flame, Abraham Praise, The Price is Right Co-Producer and Chief Technical Officer at Genesis Studios, added: “The Price is Right is a long running and successful format. We can’t wait to adapt it in Nigeria and see the latest territory contestants come on down to play.”
The Price is Right continues to be a hot property. The legendary US version is now into its 44th season and is still attracting huge audiences. Just last year each episode averaged 5.4 million viewers per episode, making it the number one daytime show on CBS.”
