Nigeria would join other countries in the world to checkmate the effect of global food crisis through the launching of United Nation’s Ecosystem- Based Adaptation for Food Security Assembly (EBAFOSA‎).

EBAFOSA is saddled with the responsibility to serve as the continental policy platform to foster and nurture partnerships through branch formation in each African country.

Some African countries have since launched their national programmes and the theme for Nigeria’s launching is ‘’Re-shaping Nigeria Food Security and Climate Resilience through EBAFOSA”.

Speaking on the launching, National President of EBAFOSA, Mr. James Oyesola said that the body was the first inclusive pan-African policy framework that provides a platform for all stakeholders in the country to collaborate in developing and implementing policy solutions to upscale Ecosystem- Based Adaptation ( EBA)-driven agriculture and its value chains as well as industrialization and job creation in a sustainable way.

He explained that EBAFOSA implementation is strategically categorized into three phases, introductory, growth and maturity, with each subsequent phase building on a preceding one.

“The introductory phase is considered as the most-crucial as it aims to secure the commitment of the vital stakeholders, who will be the foundation of EBAFOSA”, he said.

‎Oyesola said EBAFOSA is a treaty and not an organization, stressing that EBAFOSA is a peer to peer review to reflect working policies that would be acceptable worldwide.

He further revealed that when launched, EBAFOSA will have all hands on deck with effective synergies looking at the press, ministries and stakeholders.

On all season farming, the president added that EBAFOSA will work hand in hand with the agencies including All Farmers Association of Nigeria, Women allied organizations, and more agencies that forecast the weather, as this will make food production to be sustainable.‎

Expected at the launching include international organisations, Minister of Agriculture, Minister of Environment, Minister of Budget and National Planning and other key stakeholders.
