June 12: Buhari did the unthinkable – Gani Adams

Top leaders of the Oodua People’s Congress (OPC), who are opposed to the leadership style of its National Co-ordinator, Otunba Gani Adams, have vowed to topple him because of what they called his anti-OPC activities.

They also vowed to consult extensively towards ensuring the emergence of a new successor.

The selection process for a new national co-ordinator, they said, would include the consultation of the Ifa (Yoruba divinity) oracle‎ to get the “right person.”

Speaking with reporters at a sensitisation meeting held in Sagamu, Ogun State, on Wednesday, the leaders, under the aegis of National Co-ordinating Council (NCC) of OPC, restated their decision to relieve Adams of his post over alleged “anti-congress activities.”

The organisation, it will be recalled, had been enmeshed in crisis over the campaign fund allegedly collected by Adams for the last presidential elections.

One of the NCC members, Morufu Salami, told reporters that Adams was no longer in charge of affairs of the Yoruba socio-cultural group.

Salami, who is the Kwara State Co-ordinator of OPC, said ‎the group had also petitioned the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) over alleged mismanagement of the campaign fund collected from former President Goodluck Jonathan.
