NCIRB mourns pioneer member, Odutola Balogun
The Nigerian Council of Registered Insurance Brokers (NCRIB) on Tuesday mourned the demise of one of the pioneer members and founders of the Council, Late Chief Tunde Odutola Balogun, the Jaguna of Ijebuland.
Balogun died on March 14, 2016 at the age of 94.
The Council’s President, Mr. Kayode Okunnoren, in a condolence letter delivered to the family of the deceased in Lagos, noted that Late Balogun would be remembered as one of the earliest insurance professionals who infused a great deal of integrity and professionalism into the nation’s insurance broking practice.
He said during his lifetime, Late Balogun was one of the pride of the insurance profession, having co-founded Equity Indemnity Insurance Limited which morphed later into Equity Assurance plc. He was also the Chairman of Intra Niger Insurance Brokers Limited, which he founded in 1964.
Okunoren said with the demise of the insurance icon, another chapter has been closed in the history of insurance profession in Nigeria and urged the upcoming practitioners to emulate the goodly virtue which the deceased left on the sands of time.
Balogun was a one time member of the Elders Council of the NCRIB; Member of the Yoruba Tennis Club and was on the board of several thriving companies.
