Survivors and victims of herdsmen attacks on Agatu communities have requested for the siting of a military Barrack in Agatu to build confidence and encourage the locals to return home ahead of the farming season.
The Oche-Agatu, Mr Godwin Onah, made the demand among other pressing needs when the Benue State governor, Mr Samuel Ortom visited the local government to assess the level of destruction carried out by the herdsmen in the attacks which lasted for two months.
Ortom, who visited communities like Aila, Akwu, Odugbeho and Okololo, expressed shock at the level of destruction of lives and properties, promising to take their demands to the federal government for consideration.
The governor while responding to the demand made by the Agatu indigenes at Aila, promised to take up the issues with the Federal Government, considering the level of devastation.
Addressing journalists, Mr Ortom said he will also request for a dedicated reconstruction funds for Benue State as is being done for the people of North East.
