Dr. Rotimi Oladele, recently was unanimously re-elected as the President of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) for the next two years.

Also re-elected is the Vice-President, Alhaji Muktar Sirajo, and 12 old Council members – alongside three new members, including Mrs. Yetunde Alagbe from Oyo State.

The election, which took place in Ibadan, the Oyo state capital also witnessed the conferment of professional fellowship of the NIPR on five of its dedicated members.

The participants at the conference session with the theme: “Networking for National Economy, the Synergy of Agriculture and Communication”, observed that there was a need for a link between research and development in agriculture and the key players in the sector, on the one hand, and between government policies and the needs of the peasant farmers, on the other.

Public Relations and Communications professionals were, on the occasion, tasked, by the Minister of Agriculture, Chief Audu Ogbeh, who was represented by a Director in the Federal Ministry of Agriculture, Dr. (Mrs) Doyin Awe, the Dean, Basic Clinical Sciences, Afe Babalola University, Ado-Ekiti, Dr. Laofe Ogundipe, to take an active part in reconnecting all the diverse stakeholders in the agricultural sector.

The forum further implored the Federal Government to imbibe marketing communication policies in the agricultural sector and to create opportunities for strategic engagements by critical stakeholders, like the NIPR in enriching and bridging policy and skill gaps.
