Ogun State Government has donated a sum of N750,000 to the families of students of Methodist High School, Arigbajo, in the Ewekoro Local Government Area who were involved in an auto crash on November 2, 2015.

Presenting the cheque on behalf of the State Government in Abeokuta, the Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology Mrs. Modupe Mujota, described the death of the young and vibrant students as unfortunate and painful.

She said the death of the students was indeed a great loss to the State and the nation at large, saying that Government has lost human resources that would have contributed to the development of the country in the future.

Mujota, in a statement signed by the Ministry’s Press Officer, Mr. Elijah Udofia said though money could not replace the lives that were lost, yet the gesture of the Government was intended to cushion the effect of the loss, thanking God for sparing the life of one of the students.

Also speaking, the Commissioner for Special Duties, Barr. Leke Adewolu who sympathised with the family of the deceased urged them to see the incident as an act of God, calling on the parent of the surviving student not to be overwhelmed by the incident but ensure the child completes his education.

Speaking on behalf of the parents, Mr. Joel Soluade, thanked the State Government for the gesture, saying that the donation was an indication that the present administration had concern for the welfare of the people.

It would be recalled that on November 2, 2015, three students of the Methodist High School, Arigbajo, Ewekoro Local Government Area were involved in an auto crash on their way to school when a moving car lost control knocked them down while they were trying to cross the road.
