Wema bank staff, other docked over alleged fraud

A Wema Bank Automated Teller Machine (ATM) officer, Dayo Omozefe, was on Wednesday arraigned before an Igbosere Magistrate’s Court over alleged fraud of N2,77,000‎.

Also arraigned alongside Omozefe is Okugbesan Femi, 36 a granite supplier.

The duo are facing a four court charge bordering on conspiracy, fraud and stealing preferred against them by the police.

The defendants who resides at 46, Fagba ‎Daddy Savage Street and 10, Litan Anorinniku Street, Olorun Sogo Idi-aba, Abeokuta, in Ogun state, were docked before Magistrate Mrs H. A. Amos.

However, the defendants pleaded not guilty to the charge leveled against them.

The prosecutor, Sergeant Oladejo Balogun told the court that the defendants conspired to commit the alleged offences between December 2015 and March 2016.

He said that ‎the defendants and others who are still at large, committed the offence on March 18, 2016 at about 5pm, at Wema Bank headquarters in Lagos.

Balogun said that 30 –year-old Omozefe fraudulently credited a Wema Bank account number 0220249678 with the sum of N60,000, with intent to steal the said sum, a property of Wema Bank Plc.

The prosecutor also said that ‎the duo between December 2015 and March 2016, stole the sum of N217,000 belonging to the bank.
