2019: PDP calls for intensive prayers for peaceful polls, transition

The congresses held by Osun State Chapter of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) in the 332 wards across the state has ended with controversy and division of party members.

While a part of the party was loyal to the last governorship election candidate of the party, Senator Iyiola Omisore, others were in support of the incumbent State Chairman of the party, Ganiyu Olaoluwa.

According to members in the Omisore’s camp, the election was ‎not supposed to be held, and insisted that the process was wrong, and subsequently rejected the outcome.

The spokesperson of Omisore camp, Hon. Bade Falade, claimed that the congress was manipulated in favour of chairmanship candidates.

“We were not given forms to participate in the exercise and contest. Apart from that, a court had already issued an injunction stopping the exercise,” he added.

On the incumbent chairman camp’s part, the‎ election was an acceptable one.

Immediate past Speaker of Osun State House of Assembly, Chief ‎ Adejare Bello, explained that no injunction was received by his Olaoluwa camp.

He further called on members of the party to be united for PDP to win the next elections in the state.
