NGO trains Adamawa women IDPs on traditional birth
An NGO, Betneely Charity Foundation has provided midwife training to 45 women selected as Traditional Birth Attendants (TBA) in three of the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) camps in North East Adamawa.
Presenting the trainees with working kits and certificates at a ceremony in Malkohi Camp near Yola, the Managing Director of the foundation, Mrs Betty Olutunde, said the gesture was to help in bringing succor to pregnant women in the camps.
Olutunde, who was represented by Mrs. Hajara Kadiri, a board member in the foundation, said the midwife training provided to 15 women each selected from three camps in the state, was done with the support from U.S embassy in Nigeria.
He urged the trainees to make use of the knowledge obtained as traditional birth attendants in helping fellow women in camps.
