PDP convention: Group wants Sheriff, NWC members barred from re-election
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Reform Group, on Tuesday lent its voice to those calling for the barring of the members of the outgoing National Working Committee (NWC) of the party from seeking re-election in its forthcoming national convention.
The group has equally pushed for the auditing of the party’s finances in the past two years.
The group, which addressed journalists, on Tuesday, in Abuja, pointed out that its call was not aimed at witch-hunting or probing anybody, but to subsequently put in place international best practices in the management of the party.
Speaking on behalf of the group, one of its conveners, Mr. Ariyo-Dare Atoye, accused the out-going national officers of mismanaging the post-defeat era of the party, as well as the alleged squandering its resources.
According to group, “This is a big shame. It is the collective feelings of all our members nationwide that none of them should come back”.
It cautioned that the old order, which made the party unattractive to Nigerians, and which caused it the 2015 general elections, was about repeating itself.
