CACOL writes EFCC over alleged corrupt practices against ex-leaders
We were however taken aback when our attention was drawn to a book authored by General Obasanjo (Rtd), titled ‘My Watch’, in which the former President published a purported report of the investigation panel (page 431 – 465).

Dear Sir,
REQUEST FOR THE OFFICIAL INVESTIGATION REPORT OF ALLEGED CONSPIRACY, FRAUDULENT CONVERSION OF FUNDS, ABUSE OF OFFICE, FOREIGN EXCHANGE MALPRACTICE AND MONEY LAUNDERING
The Coalition Against Corrupt Leaders (CACOL) is a group of organizations with the objective of fighting corruption and corrupt persons at all levels in Nigeria. We also strive to protect interest of persons or groups found to be victims or potential victims of corrupt practices or process manipulations.
We would like to commend your bold achievements since you assumed office, with the steam and energy you have demonstrated thus far, we are convinced that Nigeria is truly on its way to ridding the society of corruption.
Our Coalition submitted a petition against former President, General Olusegun Obasanjo (Rtd) to the EFCC on November 14th, 2007 at the Lagos Zonal Office on offences bordering on alleged conspiracy, fraudulent conversion of funds and abuse of office, foreign exchange malpractice and money laundering.
Following the submission and defense of our petition, an investigative panel was set up to look into the issues raised by our Coalition. We have been tracking the case but updates from the EFCC have not been forthcoming.
We were however taken aback when our attention was drawn to a book authored by General Obasanjo (Rtd), titled ‘My Watch’, in which the former President published a purported report of the investigation panel (page 431 – 465). We were surprised because as one of the two petitioners acknowledged, we had expected for the report to be released to us and even the public.
It is indeed worrisome that a report that the EFCC have not officially released found its way into General Obasanjo’s Book. We wonder why it’s only the former President that appears to have seen the report while the other stakeholders and the populace remain in the dark and groping.
Obviously, it is only logical that as one of the two petitioners, we should have been served a copy or the report should have been made public. We therefore officially request that your esteemed office avail us with the official copy of the report of the investigative panel.
Yours in service to humanity
Debo Adeniran
