Aptech continues to empower minds with enriching experience in Nigeria
Aptech, the global education and training company has organised the eighth edition of the mega career fair, Career Quest, in Nigeria.
The fair, which is held in collaboration with the Middlesex University, UK with over 2,000 students from Nigeria, in attendance.
According to a recent World Bank report, the Nigerian economy needs to create between 40 and 50 million jobs between 2010 and 2030. These numbers translate into over 2 million additional jobs per year, which would be mostly taken up by new entrants to the labour market. This highlights the importance on strengthening the employability of graduates and the productivity of enterprises through better links between schooling and job need. Technical and vocational education institutes will also play a vital role in this. Given the early entry into work, especially for young people from poor families, and the importance of self-employment, there is also a specific need to consider skills upgrading for those who already work in a household enterprise.
Aptech has been fostering the progress of students in the I.T. sector since the past 30 years globally. The innovative career fair, Career Quest, is one such initiative from Aptech that is held with a view to encourage students to pursue a career in the field of information technology. Career Quest is a one-stop resource for students who are vying to study abroad. The fair is also supported through concurrent seminars for students that give them a glimpse of the opportunities in the I.T. industry.
The seminar also informs students about the Aptech Certified Computer Professional (ACCP) program. Students enrolling for this course get a scholarship and a unique credit transfer facility which gives them a degree in B.Sc. (Hons) from Middlesex University which has its campuses in London, Mauritius, Dubai and Malta.
Meanwhile, Mr. Pravir Arora, EVP – International & Enterprise Business explained that the aim of Career Quest is to offer courses in I.T. from a recognised university which will make it easier for the students to get better employment opportunities. Adding that the responses the company have received this year is outstanding.
“Career Quest has been a significant event for the students as it helps them realise their dream of studying abroad and being job-ready professionals.”
