Mabel, in a chat with our reporter said that her husband’s death was a great shock to the members of the family, especially the wives and children.

She said, “Having donated my kidney to my husband in 2013, we believed everything was going to be alright which was until about few weeks ago when he complained again.  Words cannot express the pain that I feel right now, I pray to be strong in this trying time.”

Okungbowa will be remembered for his work with Oxygen, Paul Play, Rugged man, X-Appeal, Jazzman, 2face Idibia, and many others. He produced pop icon 2face Idibia’s classic debut album ‘Grass to Grace’ and the seminal, industry-redefining 2001 rap single ‘Ehen Pt. 1.

Confirming the news of the death also, the management of the late musician, Moradeyo Folajaiye in a release noted that OJB’s kidney transplant had failed completely since last week.

OJB passes on a month to his 50th birthday. His body has been deposited in a morgue at Isolo General Hospital. He is survived by three wives, June, Korede, Mabel and eight children.

The late singer also left behind his 87-year-old father.
