Herdsmen attacks: Youth donates relief materials to IDPs in Taraba
A youth group Concerned Taraba Tiv Youth Frontier (CTTYF) on Saturday donated relief materials to victims of herdsmen attacks currently taking refuge in Sabon-Gida, Dan-Anacha and Korum villages of the state.
Presenting the materials to TER-TIV Gassol, His Royal Majesty Zaki Simon Erentsa at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Sabon-Gida, Chairman of the group, Comrade Dooior Torkula sympathised with the people for the hardship facing them.
He said the group decided to reach out to the IDPs because of the economic crunch being witnessed in the country, adding that the IDPs who were forced out of their homes were the worst hit in the period.
Torkula urged the people not to loose faith as the government was doing everything possible to ensure security of lives and property.
The Chairman appeal to the people to be security conscious and report any suspicious movement and criminal act to the security agencies, even as urged the people to support the efforts for the present administration in the state to succeed.
Receiving the items, the TER-TIV Gassol, HRM. Zaki Simon Erentsa thanked the youth group for the gesture, adding the the items would be shared equally across the three camps.
He noted that the Tiv youth have challenged prominent Tiv sons of Taraba state who have not deemed it fit to visit the IDPs to see things for themselves.
The Chief thanked the governor, Darius Ishaku for his efforts in ensuring the return of peace in the state and the wife of the governor, Mrs. Anna Ishaku for her medical intervention to the IDPs in Dan-Anacha and Sabon-Gida and urged the people to support the government.
Items donated to the IDPs included 22 bags of men, women and children’s wear, cottons of detergent, soap, salt and maize among other food stuff.
