Nigerian Breweries PAT declines by 22% in mid-2018

…As entry opens for 8th NB Golden Pen Awards

 

Leading alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverage giant, the Nigerian Breweries Plc, organisers of the Golden Pen Award has concluded plans to honour the finest of Nigeria’s journalism industry through its annual golden pen award.

Mr. Kufre Ekanem, Head, Corporate Affairs Adviser of Nigerian Breweries plc disclosed this at a media briefing in Lagos on Tuesday that the theme of education, youth empowerment and talent development, will also be adopted this year as was done during the last edition.

According Ekanem, submission of entries, begins on Tuesday, June 28 and will close on Friday August 19, 2016.

He revealed that as usual an independent jury will analyse all entries for originality, news value, use of resources credibility and factuality while other areas of interest would include info-graphics, layout/headline clarity and social responsibility.

He also pointed out that after the adjudication, a short-list of nominees would be announced early in October while the 8th Nigerian Breweries Golden Pen Awards Ceremony will take place on the 28th of October, 2016

Speaking further, the Corporate Affairs Adviser detailed the categories of the award and the prizes to include, The Nigerian Breweries Golden Pen Reporter of the Year (N1m); first runner-up for the Nigerian Breweries Golden Pen Reporter of the Year (N300, 000.00) and second runner-up for the Nigerian Breweries Golden Pen Reporter of the Year (N200, 000.00).

The Nigerian Breweries Golden Pen Report of the Year will also attract the sum of (N500, 000.00) while The NB Golden Pen Photojournalist of the year will get the sum of (N500, 000.00) while the 1st and 2nd runner-up will get N250, 000.00 and N200, 000.00 respectively.

“At the Golden Pen Awards Ceremony, we shall celebrate the best of journalism in Nigeria, we shall reward excellence, promote creativity and applaud objectivity”, Ekanem enthused.

Kufre Ekanem however urged Nigerian journalists to take advantage of the golden pen award and put in their entries, adding that all entries must have been published in any medium in the year 2015.

The Nigerian Breweries Golden Pen Award was inaugurated in 2008 to celebrate Nigerian journalists and to promote professionalism and objective reportage of events in corporate Nigeria. It is also meant to reward journalists who abide by the fine ethics of the profession.
