Oyo Police sets up forum for effective community policing

The Joint Service Commanders from the Army, Navy, Mopol and the Air Force on Monday visited Akpabuyo and Bakassi Local Government Areas of Cross River State to display a show of force and have a first-hand knowledge of the situation on ground.

The visit was to further buttress the fact that the Local Government Areas are peaceful.

Leading a convoy of the military and paramilitary to both councils in a show of force operation, Police Commissioner, Jimoh Ozi-Obeh, told journalists that no part of the state has been overtaken by any militant group.

He pleaded for calm on the part of residents reassuring them that all security agencies in the state remain committed to their safety as there is no cause for alarm.

Meanwhile, some residents who came out at the busy bitch Market in Bakassi to welcome the convoy said that they have had no reason to flee to Cameroon or live in panic.

NEWSVERGE reports that there have been rumours making the rounds that the militant group, Bakassi Strike Force has taken over the control of Akpabuyo and Bakassi Local Government Areas of the state.

Although, the Bakassi militant group leader in an exclusive interview he granted a Television Sunday night said he is not a cultist neither any member of his team, rather, he is a freedom fighter.
