Oba-elect allege threats to his life, petitions Ambode
A Lagos traditional ruler designate and family head of the Olarinde Ajoa Oluekun of Oguntedo town, Abule Ado in Oriade LCDA, under Amuwo-Odofin Local Government Area, Chief Babatunde Alade Olarinde, has cried out to the State government to save his life from one Mr. Tunde Faduola and his ally, Deacon Daniel Onatamere.
Chief Olarinde, who has been elected by the family but awaiting the letter of confirmation from the Lagos state Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs in a petition written to Governor Akinwumi Ambode and obtained by NEWSVERGE stated that he is currently in hiding because Faduola, who claimed to be working for Mr. Mike Okiro, former Inspector General of Police, and Mrs. Faduola, a retired police officer who is popularly referred to as “Auntie Ayo’Lalagbon” are after his life.
The traditional ruler designate explained that he obtained a warrant of possession in 2004, after a Supreme Court judgment of a suit: ID/94/88 against Deacon Onatamere, Chairman of the Landlord Association of Abule Ado, to take possession of the Olarinde Ajoa Oluekun family property and thereafter gave it to one TOFEEM owned by Mr. Tunde Faduola, who was introduced to him by Barrister Cyril Ogbeken, the family lawyer with agreement to share the proceeds 50-50.
Meanwhile, after five years of no execution, Chief Olarinde said he revoked the agreement signed by the parties.
He explained further that after revoking the agreement, Mr. Faduola, in cahoots with some policemen had detained him behind bars first at Ogba Police station and State Command in Ikeja, Lagos State, before charging him to court.
According to him, Mrs. Faduola, a retired police officer and wife of Faduola aided him in locking him up at Ogba Police station under one ACP Danbaruba and at the Sate command Ikeja, respectively.
Olarinde said all entreaties to explain what transpired between him and Mr. Faduola to the Divisional Police Officer, DPO fell on the officers’ deaf ears as he was subsequently locked up in the cell.
In his words, “These people have conspired together to eliminate me. I have been indoors since November 2015.
“I wrote a petition to the Lagos state command, I am yet to get a response, I also wrote another one to the Department of State Security (DSS) Shangisha, still no response because Mr. Faduola, who claims to be the godson of Sir. Mike Okiro, had always boasted that no police formation in Lagos will investigate him if he kill anybody even if he kills me.”
When NEWSVERGE contacted Mr. Tunde Faduola, via one of his mobiles (+2348061299382), he questioned our reporter if he is a Police officer and said that he should not bother him on the matter since it is before a Magistrate court.
But when he was pressed further, Faduola claimed that Chief Babatunde Alade Olarinde, collected over N68 million from him at the point of signing the agreement but refused to speak on what the sum is meant for.
When asked if truly he threatened Chief Babatunde Alade Olarinde, he said he was not interested in the story and put off the line.
“The matter is already in court, Olarinde collected a lot of money from me, I am surprised he now said I am threatening him. If he knows I am threatening him, he should go and report to the Police or are you a policeman?
“So, I won’t like to make any further comment……….(the line went off).”
Chief Olarinde, has however appealed to the Lagos State Governor to investigate the matter to save his life, adding that over 2,000 people are dependent on him for their daily living.
