HOOP Dreams basketball ends first session in style
The grand finale of Hoop Dreams Basketball programme designed for age 5 to 18 of both sex holding in Adamasingba Stadium, Ibadan at the weekend featured lots of excitements and rewards for participants for their passion and commitments to the game.
Founder of the Academy, Barrister Daramola Awosika, expressed satisfaction over the enrolment and talents discovered within the first stage of tutelage.
He stressed that reasonable number of beginners were introduced to basketball game through the platform. Barrister Awosika, however appealed to the parents to strike a balance for their children between sports and academics for them to utilize their potentials as expected.
In his remarks, the Acting General Manager, Oyo Sate Sport Council, Mr. Gboyega Makinde urged participants to use the opportunity to build career in the game. He assured youths and sport lovers in the state of enhancing sporting programmes through the support of Oyo State Ministry of Youth and Sports.
The event, which has Oyo State Commissioner for Youth and Sports in attendance Mr. Abayomi Oke and other dignitaries was rounded off with awards presentation and exhibition match where West Coast Under ’14’ boys defeated East coast of same category 12 – 10 in two half to lift the trophy.
