NGO seeks proper education of women on exclusive breastfeeding

The wife of Lagos State Governor, Mrs. Bolanle Ambode, is set to flag off this year’s World Breastfeeding Week Celebration (WBWC) in Lagos.

Mrs. Ambode will flag off the programme at a special Exhibition organized by AFRIBABY Initiative in support of the World Breastfeeding Week Celebration.

The event which is billed for August 1, at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital, GRA, Ikeja, Lagos will attract participants from all part of Lagos and its environs.

The event will mark the 15th edition of AFRIBABY Babies and Moms Exhibition and five years existence of AFRIBABY as a Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO).

Activities lined-up to make the event excitingly memorable include the very popular Breastfeeding Contest and Daddies Competition where winners will cart away lots of exciting prizes.

The Theme of this year’s World Breastfeeding Week Celebration is: “Breastfeeding: A Key to Sustainable Development.”

World Breastfeeding Week Celebration is a World Health Organisation (WHO) initiative taking place every year all over the world. The programme was initiated to ensure the success of exclusive breastfeeding and eradication of infant and maternal mortality.

AFRIBABY is a Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO) that is concerned about all that has to do with babycare and mothercare with reference to the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) 4 and 5. The NGO is also assisting the United Nations (UN), World Health Organisation (WHO) and Governments at all levels in providing new opportunities for infant and maternal survival.

Our objectives include promoting public awareness about caregiving, family planning, and bridging the communication gap between all institutions and organizations, private or public, doing one thing or the other for babies and mothers.
