Join me for growth of PDP, Sheriff tells Markafi
The factional national Chairman of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Ali-Modu Sheriff on Friday, called on the faction led by Senator Ahmed Makarfi to join hands with him for the growth of the party.
Sheriff at a media briefing in Abuja, said that he got an order stopping the party’s national convention in Port Harcourt on August 17 but that he is prepared to work with the Senator Makarfi faction.
He also disclosed that he would convene an expanded caucus meeting of the PDP, which he said would comprise the Board of Trustees, National Assembly Caucus and state chairmen to chart the next line of action.
Meanwhile, the caretaker committee of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) has insisted that the August 17 convention would hold in spite of Thursday’s ruling by the Federal High court, sitting in Abuja.
The court had ordered the factional PDP leadership to suspend the convention scheduled to hold in Port Harcourt.
Reacting to Senator Ali-Modu Sheriff, comment a separate briefing in Abuja, the Spokesman for the Interim Caretaker Committee, Dayo Adeyeye, described the judgment as “objectionable, questionable and very strange to say the least in the history of Nigeria Judiciary”.
