Lagos commercial motorcyclist arraigned for plying restricted route
A 21-year-old commercial motorcyclist, Rasaq Jaiyesimi, who allegedly plied one of the prohibited routes in Lagos State, was on Tuesday granted a N100, 000 bail.
An Ikorodu Magistrates’ Court which gave the ruling, also granted the motorcyclist two responsible sureties.
Magistrate A. Oshodi-Makanju said the sureties, who should be gainfully employed, should also show evidence of tax payment.
The accused is being tried for violating the state’s traffic laws to which he pleaded not guilty.
But the prosecutor, Sgt. Kemi Adeniran, insisted that the accused committed the offence on July 28 at 3.00 p.m. on Lagos- Ikorodu Expressway.
Adeniran told the court that the accused rode his motorcycle with registration no. AGL 718 QD on a prohibited route.
“Jaiyesimi willfully engaged in his business on a road that commercial motorcycles have been barred from plying.’’
