Obaseki’s foreign trips yielded no economic benefit – Edo PDP

The All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in Edo, Mr Godwin Obaseki, has urged Christians to pray for his success in the September 10 gubernatorial election.

He made the call in a Church Service at the Living Faith Church, Benin, during a prayer session.

Obaseki, who noted that as a Christian he believed in the efficacy of prayers, said he had made similar request before the primaries that saw him emerge as APC candidate.

He said soliciting for same prayers at this point in time was not out of place, but to ensure his victory and for a peaceful poll.

“This time, I want you all to join me in praying for the success of governorship election which is just few weeks away. With your prayers I believe we will achieve success.’’

Meanwhile, the APC governorship candidate had promised to create new cities in Edo when elected governor of the state.

Obaseki made this promise when he met with clan heads and members of communities in Iyekogba, Oredo Local Government Area of Edo, where he entered into a social contract with them.

He said creating new cities would not only open up the areas, but enhance development as well as stop rural-urban migration.

Obaseki said that the social contract was to ensure the development of the community, through building of roads, schools and empowering the youths.

According to him, this is geared towards achieving the state’s 20-year-plan initiated by Gov. Adams Oshiomhole.

“This social contract is like making a contract with myself. It is the responsibility of government to work for the people and its impact felt by every community in the state, and that I will do.”

Earlier, the clan head of Umagbe, Anthony Osagie said the current administration had “done a lot for the community and the state in general’’.

Osagie urged Obaseki to emulate Oshiomhole and do even more, when elected governor.
