Customs seizes contrabands worth N250m in one month

The Field Operations Unit, Zone “A” of the Nigeria Customs on Monday says it has intensified efforts in the anti-smuggling operations.

The unit also said it intercepted smuggled items worth N250m duty paid value between July and August this year.

According to the Controller of the unit, Dahiru Mohammed, the seized goods include bags of parboiled rice, frozen poultry foods, used vehicles, various types of merchandise such as used bags, shoes, clothing, furniture sets among other things.

He further pledged the commitment of the unit to scuttle every efforts of smugglers to bring in contraband items into the country.

He however, called on patriotic Nigerians to help the Nigeria Custom in the fight against smugglers by providing necessary intelligence report that will help the agency ensure a better return on investments for legitimate traders.
