Police in manhunt for missing Osun varsity students
The Osun State Command of the Nigeria Police Force has raised a search party to find two final year students of the Osun State University that were declared missing in Osogbo, the state capital of recently.
The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Mrs. Folasade Odoro, in a press statement said that the state Commissioner of Police, Mr. Femi Oyeleye, has detailed a special team to unknot the circumstances surrounding the whereabouts of the missing students and ensure that they are found.
It would be recalled that the two 400 level male students, Messrs Akinduro Robert and Samuel Ify Eke who had already written their final examination could not go home because they have not completed their long essays (Projects/undergraduate theses).
Our correspondent learnt that the students left their hostel in the evening on 5th of this month to meet another student known as Parise who would help them to typeset their long essay but they did not return home since then.
The police spokesperson said Parise who was the last person that the students spoke with was arrested and that the suspect is still in custody at the Criminal Investigation Department (CID).
The CP pleaded with any individual with useful information concerning the whereabouts of the missing students to assist the police so as to be able to rescue them.
The Vice Chancellor of the University, Professor Jelili Oguntola Alamun in a chat with our correspondent yesterday said that the university management is assisting the police authority in collaboration with the parents of the missing students to ensure that they are found and reunite with their families.
