Referendum: Biafra statehood can’t be ignored – MASSOB

Leader of the Movement of the Actualisation of the Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB), Comrade Uchenna Madu, on Monday, said that the actualisation and restoration to the Biafra independence and full statehood can no longer be ignored following the statement by President Muhammadu Buhari after the just concluded United Nation General Assembly.

The President said shortly after arrival from the UN General Assembly that there would be no referendum for Biafra, adding that if the group wants to lead the nation they should form a party and win an election.

Reacting to the President Buhari’s comment, the MOSSOB leader said in a statement, Monday, issued in Owerri, the Imo State capital, that the comment on Biafra further proved “the president’s inability to quench the fire of determination and consciousness of Biafra.”

According to him, “the world leaders have shown their sympathies for the oppressive and subjective economic policies of Buhari-led Nigerian government against the industrious and creative people of Biafra.”

“The Oriental, Asian and Western world are seriously in support of Biafra because 60 per cent of their economic growths are been propelled by the industrious people of Biafra. It has dawned on President Buhari that the universal clamour for Biafra referendum to determine the choice of the people of Biafra between his Nigeria and Biafra have reached greater height of momentum which he can’t deny”,  he stated.

“For Buhari to center his first official statement on Biafra after returning back to Nigeria is a complete emotional sign of jittery, frustration and fear that Biafrans are leaving Nigeria.  I see Buhari increasing the economic, political, religious and social sufferings and persecution of the people of Biafra.

“As a Nigerian Islamic fundamentalist who hates the people of Biafra because of our Christian faith, President Buhari will unleash more vicious economic doom to diminish the enterprising nature and spirit of Ndi Biafra.

He vowed that “the Biafra referendum which Buhari cannot stop will commence on first quarter of 2017. The United Nation has already announced that Nigeria is deeply divided on ethnic and religious lines.

“Nigeria is artificial creature of the British colonial masters through Lord Lugard. With president Buhari’s latest comment on our precious Biafra, MASSOB, IPOB, Biafra People National Council (BPNC) and Niger Delta Biafra groups will redouble all our efforts, synergies, political cohesion and build more understandable platforms for speedy actualization and restoration of Biafra,” he added.
