Independence Day: Nigeria government declares October 3 public holiday
The Nigerian Government has declared Monday, October 3 as public holiday to mark the country’s 56th Independence Day anniversary.
The holiday was announced on Thursday in Abuja by the Minister of Interior, Lieutenant General Abdulrahman Dambazau (Rtd).
General Dambazau congratulated Nigerians at home and abroad on the commemoration of the 2016 independence anniversary.
He assured them that the government was working assiduously to put in place, various palliative measures to cushion the effects of the current economic challenges.
The Minister urged the citizens to continue to support President Muhammadu Buhari in his avowed determination to build a strong, virile and united Nigeria in line with the dream of the country’s founding fathers.
He wished all Nigerians a happy anniversary celebration.
