Police arraign 10 men for public disturbance in Ilorin
The police on Thursday arraigned 10 people in an Ilorin Magistrates’ Court for alleged criminal conspiracy and disturbance of public peace.
They were; Longe Lucky, Okafor Ebuka, Rasaq Sanmi, Jamiu Yahya, Aliyu Bala, Shehu Tijani, Ibrahim Abubakar, Kamarudeen Saadu, Sanusi Segun and Ifeanyi Enebele.
The accused persons pleaded not guilty to a two-count charge of criminal conspiracy and disturbance of public peace.
Prosecutor Nasiru Yusuf told the court that the accused persons were arrested at Ariya Hotel, CoCa-Cola Road, Ilorin, where they were drinking and smoking at random on Oct. 1.
Yusuf said that the accused persons disturbed public peace by raising their musical sound to the maximum level.
He said the offence contravened sections 97 and 113 of the Penal Code.
The Magistrate, Mohammed Ibrahim, admitted them to bail in the sum of N40,000 each with one surety each in like sum and adjourned the case till Oct. 24 for further mention.
