AMLSN President lauds Taraba educational system, ICT compliance
The President, Association of Medical laboratory scientists of Nigeria (AMLSN), Alhaji Toyosi Raheem on Thursday hailed the level of educational development in Taraba and the level of ICT compliance among secondary schools students in the state.
Toyosi, gave the commendation while presenting awards to the best three students in an Essay Competition organised by G50 Initiative for Health (GIF-Health) a group of 50 Medical Laboratory Scientists during the Dinner/Award night of the association’s annual conference.
He noted that the advertisement for the competition was made online and surprisingly 17 entries were received within a short time, giving credence to the fact that Taraba State is 100 percent ICT compliance.
“Taraba State is not doing bad educationally, judging from the entries received. I want to commend the state government for this.
“Taraba has made history during this conference. This is the first time this award is being given at our AGM. I congratulate the winners and the state for this,” he said.
Earlier, leader of the group Deacon Oni Nelson said the G50 initiative for health (GIF- Health) is partnering with Association of Medical Laboratory Scientists of Nigeria (AMLSN) to stimulate secondary school students in essay writing and promotion of medical laboratory science profession.
He noted that the initiative was fast creating awareness about medical laboratory science profession among secondary school students in the country, even as he hailed the quality of essay entries the team received in Taraba.
The essay with the topic “the role of medical laboratory science in disease control in Nigeria” has Miss Eunice Yusuf of Our Lady of Consolation Catholic Girls Secondary school Jalingo as winner, while Nnaemeka Glory and Wesley Quilicheng Galmi both of Rhema Christian Academy emerged the 1st and 2nd runners up respectively.
Rev. Sr. Justina Adejoh, Principal of Our Lady of Consolation Catholic Girls Secondary School Jalingo whose school won the 1st prize expressed gratitude to God for the award.
She thanked the organizers of the competition and her staff for ensuring excellence, saying she will continue to do her best in impacting quality education in the lives of the students.
