Russia 2018: Eagles victory, collective responsibility, says SWAN President

Honour Sirawoo, National President, Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), has described Nigeria’s win over Zambia as a product of collective responsibility by critical stakeholders.

The Super Eagles defeated Chipolopolo of Zambia 2-1 in a Russia 2018 World Cup qualifying match.

The match was played at Ndola, Zambia on Sunday.

This is contained in a statement issued in Port Harcourt by Olalekan Ige, Special Adviser to the SWAN President on media.

Sirawoo said the synergy that gave birth to the result was a manifestation of SWAN communiqué in Ilorin.

He said that sports writers in the communiqué called on Nigerians to see the country’s quest for a place in Russia 2018 world cup as a national project.

Sirawoo commended President Muhammadu Buhari, the National Assembly and Minister of Youth and Sports, Solomon Dalung for their commitment.

He also commended the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) President, Amaju Pinnick, Super Eagles technical crew, players; sports writers and Nigerians for their efforts and prayers.

The SWAN President noted that the feat would serve as a spring board in the march towards Russia 2018 and pledged the commitment of sports writers to the course.
