Goldberg felicitates with Crown Prince of Benin
Goldberg Lager Beer, a brand from the stable of Nigerian Breweries Plc has felicitated with the Crown Prince of Benin Kingdom, Prince Eheneden Erediauwa, as the coronation rites for the new Oba of Benin continues in the ancient city.

As part of his coronation ritual, Prince Eheneden Erediauwa trekked a distance of about 10 kilometres from his palace at Uselu to Eko-Ohae. Prince Eheneden, who would be crowned the 39th Oba of Benin, left Uselu at about 3:45 p.m. accompanied by a large crowd, mainly indigenes of Uselu. He climbed a 500-year-old palm tree as part of the rites .Meanwhile, Kufre Ekanem, Corporate Affairs Adviser, Nigerian Breweries Plc, said Goldberg was happy to identify with the soon-to-be coronated Oba of Benin.

According to Ekanem, the Oba of Benin is one of Nigeria’s most revered monarchs, and his coronation has to be befitting of such a high-standing ruler. “As a brand that is rooted in the cultural ethos of the people, Goldberg felicitates with the in-coming monarch and the entire people of Benin Kingdom for this historic occasion in the ancient city”, he stated.

Ekanem revealed that the Goldberg team would soon pay an official visit to the palace of the Oba to register their unflinching loyalty to the Kingdom.
Commercial activities were paralyzed along the routes Prince Eheneden trekked through from the Benin-Lagos Road, through Lagos Street to Ekpo-Ohae at Urhokpota Hall. He moved to the `Iyan-Akpan’ now known as the popular five-junction, where Chiefs from Uselu community handed him to Chiefs from Benin.

Goldberg is famous for supporting cultural activities especially across the South West, notably the Ojude Oba festival, Ogun State; Udiroko festival, Ekiti State; and Osun-Osogbo festival in Osun State. The brand has also carved out a niche for itself by supporting the development of Fuji music through its initiative, Goldberg Fuji T’o Bam.

The annual talent hunt platform has successfully brought to life the twin socio-cultural tradition of companionship and celebration. The initiative readily identifies and celebrates the rich musical tradition of sustaining the cultural values of the people in the region. The indigenous musical platform, which is currently in its fourth edition, has led to the discovery of budding Fuji talents and artists.
