NiMet predicts dust hazy, cloudy, weather for Sunday
The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has predicted dusty, hazy weather conditions over the central states of the country on Sunday.
NiMet made the prediction in the Weather Outlook by its Central Forecast Office on Saturday in Abuja.
It said that partly cloudy skies were expected over few areas like Lokoja, Makurdi, Ilorin and Jalingo during morning hours with night time temperatures of 28 to 34 degrees Celsius.
The agency predicted that the southern states would experience cloudy to partly cloudy mornings of the forecast period.
It also predicted prospects of isolated thunderstorms over Akure, Oshogho, Owerri, Awka, Benin, Port-Harcourt, Calabar, Lagos and Eket in the evening and night hours with night time temperatures of 32 to 33 degrees Celsius.
According to NiMet, northern states will experience dust haze with visibility of one to three kilometres over Kano, Sokoto, Nguru, Kastina and Maiduguri and night time temperatures of 35 to 37 degrees Celsius.
“Maiduguri, Potiskum, Nguru, Damaturu and Yola should have better visibility of between one to three kilometers with maximum temperatures of 34 to 39 degrees Celsius.
“Fresh dust plume has been raised from Chad republic which is expected to transport to the country in addition to the existing dust in suspension.
“There will be persistent reduced horizontal visibility over northern cities, hazy in the central part and partly cloudy condiction is anticipated over parts of the south with isolated thunderstorms,’’ NiMet predicted.
